James Booker, 38th Virginia Infantry Camp, letter to Chloe Unity Blair

This is the last two pages of a letter whose envelope indicates that it was written in May of 1864. James writes to Unity that he is glad to hear that the Calvalry has been catching deserters from the Army; however, in his opinion, these men should be sent to prison rather then returned to the Army, as "if thay were to bring them here thay would run way a gain." The letter concludes with a postscript in which James informs his cousin that "Mr. Hodg" was gravely wounded at Gettysburg and sent to Staunton.
