The Complete Corpus of Old English

This database comprises over 3,000 different texts, and contains all surviving Old English text (excluding some variants). Each text in the corpus includes the following information:

  • a reference to its type, age, and region of origin (when known). For example,"GEA", for "Glossary, Early, Anglian". [A complete list is found below]
  • a unique text number, allocated by the Dictionary of Old English project
  • a Cameron number, (assigned in Cameron's "Plan for the Dictionary of Old English")
  • a short title, used to identify the text in the Dictionary of Old English
  • an expanded title (in most cases)
